Metromont’s Georgia Plant Projects Win Big at 2022 Georgia ACI Awards

Three of Metromont’s projects are award winners in the 2022 Georgia ACI Awards!

The Emory University Hospital Midtown Parking Deck received First Place in the Parking Deck category, Kimball Ridge Office Building won Outstanding Achievement in the Mid-Rise category, and VA Cobb County received the Award of Excellence in the Low-Rise category. Congratulations to our Hiram team for this well-deserved recognition of these outstanding projects!

Winning First Place in the 2022 Georgia ACI Awards Parking Deck category, the Emory University Hospital Midtown Parking Deck was designed to be more than just a box to park vehicles. It was envisioned to be a recognizable, artistic addition to the Atlanta skyline. Built entirely of precast and clad in iridescent metal panels, the 16-story parking deck provides approximately 3,000 parking spaces and features a glass elevator tower to the north, which gives immediate visibility and proximity to the adjacent campus. Clad in a double height curtainwall system, the ground level of the parking deck includes an active retail space for future development. The parking deck will be a new standard for the city as town leadership seeks to evolve its use of these structures in the future to provide better urban integration and connectivity to both its residents and its commuters.

Recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in the Mid-Rise category, the Kimball Ridge Office Building is designed to be a green stone, high-performance work facility that inspires creativity and collaboration. With a highly walkable suburban location in the Avalon District of Alpharetta, Georgia, Kimball Ridge provides convenient access to the best of Avalon’s live-work-play environment. The office building was originally intended as steel and tilt-up concrete; however, Metromont negotiated a design-build approach with a total precast concrete design that offered significant cost and schedule benefits. The Hiram team produced 128,000 SF of precast concrete for the six-level total precast office building.

An Award of Excellence winner in the Low-Rise category, the 80,000 SF VA Cobb County CBOC was designed to serve more as a doctor’s office rather than a hospital and will provide veterans with a variety of specialty services such as eye clinics. Hiram negotiated the project with general contractor Manhattan Construction, producing and erecting 13,000 SF of non-load-bearing architectural precast wall panels. The 6” solid panels feature ½” deep reveals, tan concrete with formliner and a medium sandblast finish. Erection of the architectural precast panels began in March 2021 and was completed in June 2021.
