Reconstruction of the near 80-year-old Citrus Bowl stadium positions it as a premiere sports and entertainment venue.
The 90% new stadium joined a recently completed downtown performing arts center and Amway Center as part of the city of Orlando’s $1 billion community development project. The renovation included close to 42,000 new lower- and mid-bowl seats along with the addition of club-level seating, 33 luxury suites and a 10,000 square-foot party deck.
An aggressive timeline called for the rebuilt stadium to be game-ready by the Nov. 22, 2014, Florida Blue Florida Classic football match-up, allowing just 10 months from demolition to opening. Metromont provided design assistance as well as field and office engineering to ensure compliance with all requirements for budget, schedule and quality. We staged four cranes inside the stadium’s footprint with two cranes on each side working in tandem to erect the lower and mid-bowl.
