This 1.4 million sq ft facility occupies 140 acres in Adairsville’s North Floyd Industrial Park. The new facility combined three locations into one and now services stores across western Georgia, northern Florida and Alabama.
Lowe’s wanted a low maintenance exterior, which is the primary reason the precast wall panel system was selected. The owner’s representatives especially liked the subtle natural rock appearance that could be achieved with precast.
Unlike Lowe’s other distribution centers, the warehouse at this location needed to be air-conditioned. This made the thermal efficient insulated sandwich panel design essential for long-term operation.
Thermal efficient insulated wall panels with an R-16 value that further qualify as thermal mass exceeded code requirements by 100%. The exterior wythe is an architectural mix of brown river rock and a heavy sandblast finish. The interior wythe is a smooth hard trowel finish that is painted. The panels are load-bearing, eliminating the need for perimeter columns.
