Metromont Project Details

Project Overview

Driven by growing enrollment at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, the university and RISE Real Estate collaborated in Tennessee’s first-ever public-private partnership to expand its student housing facilities. Phase 1 of the project includes two seven-story total precast structures, Beacon Hall East and Beacon Hall West, that provide 583 new beds each for UTK students this fall. Metromont’s Hiram, GA and Greenville, SC teams produced a total of 254,381 SF for the two residence halls, with exterior façade comprised of integrated arches and projection features in medium sandblast finish with cast-in thin brick. Both structures utilize Metromont’s MetroDeck roof and floor system with load-bearing insulated precast walls. Total precast concrete was chosen to meet the scheduled opening for Fall 2025 semester. With Phase 1 scheduled to open for the Fall 2025 semester, the two fast-track projects were completed in approximately 20 months.

"Metromont’s team embraced our idea and got their whole team on board. It’s one thing for sales managers to want to make architects happy, but to have the plant manager, the finishing crew foreman and engineers fully engaged is something else. Metromont was extremely cooperative – the project was a win-win for everyone.”
