Located in downtown Canton, GA, the City of Canton parking deck is a “tabletop” parking garage with one elevated level of precast concrete. The parking deck adds 108 parking spaces right behind City Hall, doubling the capacity of what was available before. Metromont was added early in the design process and assisted in creating a functional, versatile, and visually pleasing parking deck that blends with the urban but historic style of the buildings in downtown Canton.
The City of Canton parking deck showcases a deep red wine shade of Feldhaus 664 cast-in thin brick, structural concrete, and a white architectural concrete mix with a medium sandblast finish. Ornamental precast concrete cornices top each column, with white molding connecting between them, giving the downtown parking garage a polished, retro look.
Metromont’s Greenville and Spartanburg manufacturing facilities produced 19,406 SF of precast concrete for this project. The small job site made precast the best building system for the Canton parking garage, which aided in a quick and efficient erection of precast concrete elements, shortening the construction schedule.
