The new, six-level City of Woodstock Parking Deck is a significant asset for Woodstock, providing free parking that enhances the downtown experience and is expected to attract new businesses and visitors to the community. Addressing the city’s need for more parking downtown, the new parking garage adds 635 parking spaces in the center of downtown Woodstock. The deck is part of the Woodstock City Center project, which includes redevelopment of a 4-acre site at the southeast corner of Main Street and Arnold Mill Road. A private development partner is building the privately-owned buildings on the site that will feature additional office, retail, and restaurant opportunities in downtown Woodstock. The development will also have a boutique hotel with meeting space.
The parking structure is constructed of precast concrete produced by Metromont’s Hiram manufacturing facility. The city opted for a factory topped double tee system which proved to save cost and schedule. This garage has 106,865 SF of elevated structure and 403 precast concrete components.
The exterior of the parking deck features a spandrel-column configuration that used an architectural concrete mix with a sandblast finish. The spandrels have a “wood” looking formliner and thin brick all cast in at the precast plant during fabrication. The top of the wide column members also has a cornice that adds a level of dimension to the exterior façade.
The new Woodstock downtown parking garage delivers an attractive, durable, and resilient precast parking solution that helps contribute to the City of Woodstock’s vibrant and growing downtown area.
